Researchers from Wonkwang University and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology visited DDFORS

Date:Feb 11, 2023

A group of seven, including Chan-Young YUNE, Associate Professor at  Gangneung-Wonju National University (Korea), and Clarence Choi, Assistant Professor at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, visited the DDFORS from August 11th to 15th, 2016. Accompanied by Deputy Director Gordon G. D. Zhou, they inspected the debris flow formation, transportation, and accumulation areas in Jiangjia Ravine, as well as debris flow prevention and control engineering in Dongchuan City.

Currently, the lack of a large-scale debris flow dynamic simulation test system in China has greatly restricted disaster prevention and reduction and mechanism research. Gangneung-Wonju National University is the world's first scientific research unit to attempt large-scale debris flow field experiments and has unique experience in large-scale debris flow experimental equipment and testing systems. During this visit, Professor Chan-Young YUNE introduced in detail the debris flow experimental research in Korea to the research personnel of the DDFORS. Professor Clarence Choi introduced advanced international debris flow dynamic testing concepts and technology, providing valuable insights for the establishment of a large-scale debris flow dynamic simulation test system at the DDFORS.
